Someone ordered a custom sofa

My first custom order sofa.  The pillows are from another sofa.  Turned out alright. n_n  I realize that I need to get a neutral colour background.  The white on white is blinding.  Especially, the middle part of the sofa. hehehe.

Bedroom set update

Just another update with the MSD size bedroom furniture that I have show in previous posts.  Finally got a coat of stain and one coat of paint on the wardrobe.  Also, got the hinges I needed to attach the doors.  Tiny hinges with tiny wood screws are insane to attach. n_n
I made a smaller version of my round table to use as a side table for the bed or the upholstered chair and sofa.  The table would work well for 1/6 scale dolls. wink, wink.  I used cotton batting for the quilt.  It turned out a bit bulky in my opinion but, it's fine for now.  Next one I make will be with some thing a bit thinner.  I was thinking of giving felt a try.  Still need the rest of the bedclothes to make.  

New Fabrics

You know when you go to the store and plan to buy only the things that you need. . .and you end up getting more than you need.
Well, this seems to happen every time I go the fabric store.  I just love fabric (you should see my stash)n_n.  This time I didn't break the bank.  I only got four different fabrics.  A fabric that has french writing on it, one with dictionary definitions, one with little hearts and one with a lovely victorian style print.
They are so lovely and beigey in colour.  I purchased around 2 meters of each, except for the top fabric it was a remnant so there was only a meter.  Though still enough for a couple pieces of furniture. 
I found a blank upholstered chair and decided to start with the french fabric.  So far so good.

New things

I've been working on some accessories to go with my furniture pieces.  These are the ones that I am currently working on.  Some flowers.  I was trying for peonies but, they look more like ranunculus.  Sorry that the lighting sucks.  I should have taken the pics earlier in the day. n_n
I'm kind of happy with the result but, I'll end up starting over again.

New Sofa

I still need to glue the white piping on the sofa but, other than that it's done.  Well, the legs need varnish and some glue to hold them in place.
I'm really pleased with the end result.  All it needs is some comfy pillows and a blanket. ^_^

New sofa leg design.

Working on a New Sofa

Things seem to be going a lot slower than I had originally hoped.  I plan (well, try to plan things) to reopen my shop this week.
In the mean time here's a peek at a new sofa I have been working on.  It's kind of going the way I would like but, these projects always have a way of designing themselves.  ^_^ Which leads us back to the trying to plan stuff.  Enjoy.

This is the basic look I am going for with the sofa.  I'm not even going to attempt the tufting shown here.  Maybe sometime in the not to distant future if I'm feeling adventurous I give it a go. 

Reinforcing the armrest with pieces of basswood.  The wood I used to cover the armrest is 1/32" thick very thin wood but, flexible.  So the added pieces of wood help give some strength.

So far so good ^_^.  Armrests strengthened now some cotton batting is needed for padding.

New Items for my shop

Here are some new pics of the things that I have bee working on lately.  The ready made and the custom order pieces.  There are still a few more to go before I open up the shop again.  ^_^
The custom pieces will have a choice of colour and finish to choose from.  I am still working on picking what fabrics will be available for the custom upholstered sofas and chairs.  
I have been reading articles about making custom listings for your easy shop.  They say that you should keep the choices simple and few.  Yet, trying to decide what fabrics to offer from my huge stash is a bit overwhelming at the moment.  
I think that it would be good to offer solid colours for the main choice and the printed fabrics for the throw pillows. 

The quilt for the bed that I made. . .

Playing around with some ideas for what the bedding will look like for the french style bed.  Here's one idea I have for a quilt design.  Have always wanted to try and make a diamond quilt.  I have made larger people size quilts that seem to take forever to sew together and then quilt.  So far the mini version seems to be going well.  

I would like to give it a more vintage look to it.  So when I'm done with the quilting part I may give it a be of distressing and perhaps a tea dip. ^_^

Bed Update

Finally got some paint on the bed.  Lookin' pretty good so far. The bottom pic shows that I decided to change the height of the legs on the bed.  All it needed was another 1/4" and made a difference.  I am also beginning to wonder if the head and foot boards should have been made a bit higher.  Well I make that decision when I get around to making the mattress and bedding, and quilt.

Note: Since these pictures were taken the bed has been sanded and distressed a bit.  Still needs some more paint and distressing. ^_^

Just a small update

Been busy doing things. One of those things being making some more pieces for customizable listing for my shop.  I hope to have most of the listings up by the end of the month.

Pillows and a blanket

Finally got around to making some pillows and blankets for my upholstered chairs and sofas.

New furniture for my shop. . . . .

I have decided give customizable furniture pieces a try.   A basic piece of furniture and choices of paint and fabric to choose from.  I won't be doing any commissions for my shop.  The reason being I have never had any luck when people have asked me to make them something.  Not making furniture but creating other things.  Mainly clothing or jewelry.  Well, never mind past troubles of mine.  
What I really want to tell you about is the pieces that I plan to make or are making.  

The wardrobe is one piece I have wanted to make for a while.  I am still working on whether to have shelves inside of a rod with hangers.

Quick post.

Been a bit too busy lately to update my blog, so my apologies. ^_^  Real life (if you can call it that) has crept up on me again.  
Anyway, I have quite a few pieces of furniture that are almost done.  So hopefully they will be listed in my shop by the end of the week.
Until then here's an uninteresting pic of some chair and sofa legs for you to enjoy.

p.s. I do them by hand cause boring me likes to do things the long way sometimes. o_o

Upholstered chairs and sofas. . . . .

Been away for a while.  House sitting for the folks and then I got some sort of stomach thingy.  Not that you really needed to know.
But any way, back to some more interesting dolly stuff.  I have been busy.  Not as busy as I would have liked considered all the things that have been going on.
My lasted idea for furniture has been upholstered pieces.

I would say that so far they are coming along pretty well.  I will add some more pictures later of the other pieces I have finished.  Right now I am working on carving and staining the legs.

My picture taking skills really suck.  I seem only to be able to take some what boring pics of the pieces I make.  So I have been trying different ways of making them look a bit more pretty. n_n

First Listing

Well I took the leap, jump, fall. . . .
I finally got the courage to try and list something on etsy.com.

I'm not to pleased with the pictures and how they turned out.  The day I find the time to take photos the sun decides not to show itself very much.
You can see in the photos that I have a floor.  I found a wooden frame with plywood on it at the art supply store which makes a perfect base for a room box.  So far I only have a floor.  Walls are to follow.
I have an idea for making different kinds of walls to interchange with the floor.  Well, it's an idea.

By the end of the week I'll try and have more things listed.
